Book Review: Yoga For Stiff Birds by Marion Deuchars.

“It’s a book for birds of all feathers”

- Marion Deuchars

As with How to Be A Fit Bird (another fantastic book by Marion Deuchars), Yoga for Stiff Birds is an utterly fabulous.

Using her globally recognised style, Marion Deuchars states in the opening pages that Yoga For Stiff Birds is “intended to help those who are new to Yoga and inspire others who have already started their yoga journey”.

The reader is given a brief yet informative introduction to the history of Yoga and many of its benefits.

These benefits include slowing down, breathing more effectively, stress relieving, increasing fitness and flexibility, increasing serotonin levels, and supporting a sense of well-being.

Who would not want to invite this into their life?

As an Osteopath and Pilates instructor, I understand the importance of exercising throughout life. Exercise takes many forms, and it is key to do what you enjoy and adapt to your body as it changes with age.

One of the great things about Yoga is that there are many types, meaning there is more than likely a style that will be achievable and beneficial for you and your body.

As Deuchars says on the back of her fabulous little book, “Yoga is for everyone.”

Yoga For Stiff Birds takes the reader through many Asanas, providing detailed instruction and information on what each specific Asana is good for.

The reader could easily compile a routine that is suited to them from this book, or do 2-3 Asanas a day if time is tight.

This little book is full of simple, positive, and inspiring words to keep you feeling motivated. It is a brilliant addition for those who value well-being, movement, and healthy ageing.

I will be recommending it a lot for many years to come.

The author states, “It’s a book for birds of all feathers.” Marion Deuchars, you have beautifully achieved this Objective.

Happy Reading, and happy Yoga-ing!
