Food For Life

Firstly, we really do need to listen to Tim Spector. He is an expert in gut health and so much more. The research into the gut and microbes is becoming ever more interesting, mind -blowing, and is deepening our understanding of this world within us, and the far-reaching effects it has on our whole body – and mind.

It all starts with what we choose to use as fuel – and we can only really make informed choices with knowledge. If you want to unpack exactly what goes on with our food, the effects on our body and the environment, with an easy-to-follow expert guiding you in the science of eating well, this is the book for you.

Broken into 3 parts, then chapters, this book works as both a full read and a reference. Tim Spector looks at each food group in detail, giving readers segmented knowledge they can pull together when deciding what to buy and ultimately eat/drink.

Backed up with detailed studies, as well as fun facts (did you know 2 cups of Americano coffee can contain more fibre than a banana?), this book is the journey that will lead to conscientious shopping (Tim Spector highlights the environmental impacts on our planet and animals with our food choices), gut-friendly food choices (30 plants a week, which includes vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, herbs and spices, is the goal) and (hopefully) an utter disdain for ultra-processed foods.

Tim Spector also blows up myths without apology; a lot of things we accept about foods are simply not true – it is clever marketing and advertising that has become ingrained in our society as fact.

FYI -Tim Spector is releasing a new cookbook (Good Mood Food) in the next month – which I absolutely have on pre-order. I cannot wait to get into this! Tim Spector’s socials are also worth following – every day really is a school day when I watch his videos.
